Miura Peninsula

The Miura Peninsula is a peninsula in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, between Tokyo Bay and Sagami Bay. It includes Yokosuka and the cities of Miura, Zushi, and Hayama.

Yokosuka: A city in Kanagawa Prefecture on the eastern side of the Miura Peninsula. Its port and naval history anchor the peninsula’s largest urban center.
Yokosuka Naval Base: A major naval installation in Yokosuka, used by Japan’s Maritime Self-Defense Force and the United States Navy. The deep-water harbor helped make the peninsula a major naval center.
Tokyo Bay: A bay on Japan’s Pacific coast, bordered by Tokyo, Kanagawa, Chiba, and the Bōsō Peninsula. It forms the peninsula’s eastern and northern maritime boundary.

Uraga: A historic port district in Yokosuka near the entrance to Tokyo Bay. Its harbor was the first Japanese port reached by Perry’s fleet in 1853.
