Moctezuma II

Moctezuma II ruled the Mexica-led Aztec Empire from 1502 until his death in 1520, during the Spanish conquest. His reign encompassed imperial expansion, growing internal pressures, and the arrival of Hernán Cortés.

Hernán Cortés: A Spanish conquistador who led the expedition that overthrew the Aztec Empire. Cortés met Moctezuma in Tenochtitlan in 1519 and became his central political counterpart.
