Modibo Adama

Modibo Adama was a Fulani religious and political leader who founded the Adamawa Emirate in the early nineteenth century after joining the Fulani jihad led by Usman dan Fodio.

Usman dan Fodio: A Fulani Islamic scholar and reformer who led the jihad that established the Sokoto Caliphate. Adama joined the jihad launched by dan Fodio and received authority to expand it eastward.
Adamawa Emirate: A nineteenth-century Fulani Muslim state founded by Modibo Adama in the region now divided between Nigeria and Cameroon. It was the polity Adama established through his campaigns and administration.
