Moebius syndrome

Moebius syndrome is a rare congenital neurological disorder characterized by facial weakness and limited outward eye movement, usually associated with underdevelopment of cranial nerves VI and VII.

Facial nerve: Cranial nerve VII controls muscles of facial expression and carries taste and other sensory and autonomic signals. Its underdevelopment or dysfunction accounts for the characteristic weakness of facial expression.
