Mongane Wally Serote

Mongane Wally Serote is a South African poet, novelist, and political activist whose writing confronts apartheid, exile, violence, and Black identity.

Apartheid: A system of racial segregation and white-minority rule imposed in South Africa from 1948 to the early 1990s. Its institutions and violence form the central political reality addressed in Serote’s work.
