Montserrat Caballé

Montserrat Caballé (1933–2018) was a Spanish operatic soprano celebrated for her bel canto technique, expressive phrasing, and recording “Barcelona” with Freddie Mercury.

Norma (opera): Vincenzo Bellini’s 1831 opera about a Druid priestess torn between religious duty and love. Caballé’s portrayal of Bellini’s priestess became one of her most admired roles.
