Mordovia

Mordovia is a republic in western Russia, within the Volga Federal District, with Saransk as its capital. It is a historic homeland of the Erzya and Moksha peoples.

Saransk: Saransk is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Mordovia in Russia. The republic’s government and largest urban center are based here.
Erzya people: The Erzya are a Finno-Ugric people native chiefly to the Middle Volga region of Russia. They are one of Mordovia’s two principal indigenous peoples.
Mordovian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic: The Mordovian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic was an autonomous republic of the Russian SFSR from 1934 to 1991. It was the direct Soviet-era predecessor of today’s Republic of Mordovia.
