Morse code

Morse code represents letters, numerals, and punctuation as sequences of short and long signals. It can be transmitted through sound, light, or electrical pulses.

Dot and dash: The short and long signal units used to encode characters in Morse code. Their durations distinguish the two basic elements in each code sequence.
Samuel Morse: American inventor and painter associated with the electric telegraph and Morse code. Morse helped develop the telegraph system that first made the code practical.
