Knowra Moshe Dayan Moshe Dayan Moshe Dayan (1915–1981) was an Israeli military commander and politician. As defense minister during the Six-Day War and Yom Kippur War, he became one of Israel’s most prominent leaders.
David Ben-Gurion : A Zionist leader and Israel’s first prime minister, serving from 1948 to 1953 and again from 1955 to 1963. Ben-Gurion brought Dayan into national politics and appointed him chief of staff.
Six-Day War : The June 1967 war in which Israel fought Egypt, Jordan, and Syria and captured the Sinai Peninsula, Gaza Strip, West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Golan Heights. As defense minister, Dayan helped direct Israel’s campaign and assumed authority over the occupied territories.
