Motor vehicle

A road vehicle propelled by an engine or electric motor. Cars, motorcycles, buses, and trucks are common types.

Internal combustion engine: An engine that produces power by burning fuel inside its cylinders or combustion chambers. It powers many motor vehicles by converting fuel into mechanical motion.
Drivetrain: The components that transmit power from a vehicle's engine or motor to its wheels. It forms the mechanical path from propulsion source to driven wheels.
Passenger car: A motor vehicle designed primarily to carry passengers on roads. It is the most familiar motor-vehicle form for personal travel.
Road traffic safety: The practices, systems, and policies aimed at preventing road crashes and reducing their harm. Vehicle design and use directly affect crash risk and injury severity.
Bicycle: A human-powered vehicle with two wheels arranged in tandem. It travels on roads without an engine or electric motor as its primary propulsion.
Electric motor: A machine that converts electrical energy into mechanical motion. It provides propulsion in battery-electric and hybrid vehicles.
Suspension (vehicle): A system of springs, dampers, and linkages connecting a vehicle's wheels to its body. It helps keep the tires in contact with the road while absorbing bumps.
Motorcycle: A two-wheeled motor vehicle designed to be ridden by one or more people. Its compact, usually two-wheeled design makes it a distinct road-vehicle type.
Automobile emissions: Pollutants and greenhouse gases released by motor vehicles during operation. Combustion vehicles contribute air pollution and climate-warming emissions.
Electric vehicle: A vehicle propelled partly or wholly by electric motors. It is a motor-vehicle subtype distinguished by electric propulsion.
