Road racing

Road racing is motorcycle competition on paved circuits or public roads, typically using brakes and multiple gears. Events range from closed-circuit championships to races on roads temporarily closed to traffic.

Racing line: The path through a corner that lets a vehicle maintain speed while meeting the course boundaries. Choosing an entry, apex, and exit path shapes lap time and passing opportunities.
MotoGP: The premier class of the FIM Grand Prix motorcycle racing world championship. Its purpose-built prototypes represent the highest level of closed-circuit road racing.
Motocross: A motorcycle sport contested on closed, rough dirt circuits with jumps and berms. Unlike road racing, it takes place on loose terrain rather than paved courses.
Isle of Man TT history: The development of the Isle of Man TT, first held in 1907 as a motorcycle race on public roads. The event became a defining early test of speed and endurance on road courses.
