Mount Damavand

Mount Damavand is a 5,610-meter stratovolcano in Iran’s Alborz Mountains and the country’s highest peak. Its summit crater, hot springs, and fumaroles indicate continuing geothermal activity.

Stratovolcano: A steep, typically conical volcano built from alternating layers of lava and fragmental volcanic deposits. Damavand’s layered cone gives it the characteristic form of this volcano type.
