Murray River

Australia’s longest river, the Murray flows west through southeastern Australia and forms much of the border between New South Wales and Victoria before reaching the Southern Ocean in South Australia.

Murray–Darling Basin: A large southeastern Australian drainage basin encompassing the Murray and Darling river systems. The Murray is the basin’s principal river and its outlet toward the sea.
Murray irrigation: The use of water from the Murray system to support agriculture in southeastern Australia. Irrigation is a major reason the river is regulated and diverted.
