Mustafa III

Mustafa III was Ottoman sultan from 1757 to 1774. He sought to strengthen the empire through military and administrative reforms, but his reign ended amid war with Russia.

Russo-Turkish War (1768–1774): A war between the Russian and Ottoman empires that ended with Russia’s victory and the Treaty of Küçük Kaynarca. The war that began during Mustafa III’s reign exposed the limits of Ottoman military reform.
