Myology

Myology is the branch of anatomy concerned with muscles, including their structure, function, development, and arrangement.

Skeletal muscle: Voluntary, striated muscle tissue that usually moves the skeleton. It forms the muscles most commonly described in gross anatomical myology.
Sliding filament theory: The model explaining muscle contraction through sliding interactions between actin and myosin filaments. It explains how microscopic changes in muscle fibers generate contraction.
