Namib

The Namib is a coastal desert along the Atlantic shores of Namibia, Angola, and South Africa. Its extreme aridity reflects cold offshore waters, atmospheric circulation, and scarce rainfall.

Benguela Current: A cold ocean current flowing northward along southwestern Africa. Its cool waters suppress evaporation and help maintain the Namib’s coastal dryness.
Namib Desert: A desert in southwestern Africa, extending inland from the Atlantic coast. The broader desert name is often used for the region encompassing the Namib’s coastal landscapes.
