NAND gate

A logic gate that outputs false only when all its inputs are true. It is equivalent to an AND gate followed by a NOT gate.

NAND truth table: A table listing a NAND gate’s output for every possible input combination. It makes explicit that only the all-true input row produces a false output.
AND gate: A logic gate that outputs true only when every input is true. NAND differs from AND only by inverting the AND result.
Functional completeness: The property of an operation or set of operations being able to express every Boolean function. NAND alone can construct every Boolean function, making it a universal logic basis.
NOR gate: A logic gate that outputs true only when all its inputs are false. NOR, like NAND, is functionally complete, but negates an OR rather than an AND.
Boolean algebra: A mathematical system that represents logical values and operations such as AND, OR, and NOT. NAND’s behavior can be expressed as the negation of a conjunction.
NOT gate: A logic gate that reverses its single input’s logical value. An AND gate followed by NOT gives the NAND operation.
NAND flash memory: A nonvolatile memory technology that stores data in NAND-organized arrays of memory cells. Its name reflects NAND-style cell interconnection, not merely use of a standalone NAND gate.
XOR gate: A logic gate that outputs true when an odd number of its inputs are true. XOR tests parity, unlike NAND’s rule of rejecting only the all-true combination.
CMOS: A semiconductor technology that uses complementary pairs of p-type and n-type MOSFETs. CMOS circuits implement NAND by combining pull-up and pull-down transistor networks.
OR gate: A logic gate that outputs true when at least one input is true. De Morgan’s law expresses NAND as an OR gate fed by inverted inputs.
