National Collegiate Athletic Association

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is a U.S. nonprofit membership organization that regulates college sports and organizes championships for member institutions.

NCAA Division I: The NCAA division generally comprising colleges with the largest athletics programs and the highest competition and scholarship limits. Its schools compete under Division I rules and stage the NCAA’s highest-profile championships.

Intercollegiate Athletic Association of the United States: The organization founded in 1906 to reform and regulate college athletics, renamed the NCAA in 1910. It is the NCAA’s original institutional name and direct predecessor.
