National University of Singapore

The National University of Singapore is a public research university formed in 1980 by merging the University of Singapore and Nanyang University. It is Singapore’s largest university.

University of Singapore: The university formed in 1962 from the University of Malaya’s Singapore division and a predecessor medical college. It was one of the two institutions merged to create NUS in 1980.
Research university: A university that conducts research alongside teaching and supports scholarly inquiry across academic disciplines. NUS is organized around research as well as degree teaching.
