Nationalist faction

The coalition of military rebels and right-wing groups that fought the Spanish Republic in the Spanish Civil War and established Francisco Franco’s dictatorship.

Spanish coup of July 1936: A military uprising against Spain’s Second Republic that began on 17 July 1936 and triggered the Spanish Civil War. The failed coup launched the war and created the rebel coalition.
Spanish Civil War: A conflict fought from 1936 to 1939 between Spain’s Republican government and the Nationalist rebels. The faction was one of the war’s two principal belligerents.
