Neopentane

Neopentane is a highly branched alkane with formula C₅H₁₂, also called 2,2-dimethylpropane. Its four carbon atoms form a central quaternary carbon bonded to four methyl groups.

Alkane: A hydrocarbon containing only carbon–carbon single bonds. Neopentane is a saturated hydrocarbon in this broader family.
n-Pentane: The straight-chain structural isomer of C₅H₁₂, with five carbon atoms in an unbranched chain. Its extended chain contrasts with neopentane’s compact, four-branched carbon skeleton.
