New Testament

The New Testament is the collection of 27 books in the Christian Bible, centered on Jesus’s life and teachings and the early Christian movement.

Gospel: A narrative or proclamation of Jesus’s life, teachings, death, and resurrection. Four books open the New Testament by presenting distinct accounts of Jesus.
Early Christianity: The religious movement that developed among followers of Jesus in the first centuries CE. The books emerged within the communities and debates of this formative movement.
Paul the Apostle: An early Christian missionary and letter writer whose work shaped the movement’s theology and expansion. Letters bearing his name account for a substantial part of the New Testament.

Apocrypha: Religious writings whose scriptural status varies among Jewish and Christian traditions. These books show that Christian biblical collections do not all share identical boundaries.
Biblical translation: The rendering of biblical texts from their source languages into other languages. Translation has carried the New Testament across languages while raising questions of meaning and authority.
