Nicholas Spykman

Nicholas Spykman (1893–1943) was a Dutch-American political scientist who argued that control of Eurasia’s coastal Rimland was central to global power.

Rimland: A geopolitical zone along Eurasia’s coastal margins, defined by Nicholas Spykman as central to controlling the continent. This is the core geographic zone in Spykman’s strategic framework.
