Nikola Pašić

Nikola Pašić was a Serbian statesman and leader of the People's Radical Party who served repeatedly as prime minister of Serbia and the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes between 1891 and 1926.

People's Radical Party: A Serbian political party founded in 1881 that became the country’s dominant parliamentary party. Pašić led the party through its transformation into Serbia’s governing force.
King Peter I of Serbia: King of Serbia from 1903 to 1918 and king of the Serbs, Croats and Slovenes from 1918 to 1921. Pašić served as prime minister under Peter during the Balkan Wars and First World War.
May Coup: The 1903 Serbian coup in which King Alexander Obrenović and Queen Draga were killed and the Obrenović dynasty ended. The coup brought a new dynasty and parliamentary order under which Pašić regained office.
Croatian Peasant Party: A Croatian political party led by Stjepan Radić that opposed the centralized structure of the new South Slav state. Its federalist demands directly challenged the centralism Pašić supported.
Timok Rebellion: An 1883 uprising in eastern Serbia against government disarmament measures and the rule of King Milan I. Pašić’s party was implicated in the revolt, forcing him into exile.

King Milan I of Serbia: King of Serbia from 1882 to 1889, previously its prince, whose rule included conflict with the Radical Party. His government prosecuted Radical leaders after the Timok Rebellion.
Dragutin Dimitrijević: A Serbian army officer and intelligence chief associated with the secret group known as the Black Hand. Pašić’s government confronted the Black Hand after the 1914 assassination crisis.
