Nikos Kazantzakis

Nikos Kazantzakis (1883–1957) was a Greek novelist, poet, playwright, and philosopher. His works include Zorba the Greek, The Last Temptation of Christ, and the epic poem The Odyssey: A Modern Sequel.

Zorba the Greek: A 1946 novel by Nikos Kazantzakis about a reserved intellectual and the exuberant Alexis Zorba. Its contrasting characters crystallize Kazantzakis’s tension between contemplation and lived experience.
