Nizam al-Mulk

Nizam al-Mulk was a Persian statesman who served as chief minister to Seljuk sultans Alp Arslan and Malik-Shah from 1063 to 1092. He strengthened Seljuk administration and founded a network of madrasas.

Alp Arslan: The second sultan of the Seljuk Empire, who ruled from 1063 until his death in 1072. Nizam al-Mulk served as his chief minister and helped administer his expanding empire.
Nizamiyya: A network of Sunni madrasas established under the Seljuk vizier Nizam al-Mulk. These schools institutionalized the educational patronage associated with his name.
Vizier: A senior minister who advises or acts on behalf of a ruler in several Muslim states. Nizam al-Mulk’s title describes the office through which he exercised Seljuk government.
