Norwegian Labour Party

The Norwegian Labour Party is a social-democratic political party founded in 1887. It has been a major governing party in Norway and organizes the Workers’ Youth League, which holds the annual summer camp on Utøya.

Workers’ Youth League: The Norwegian Labour Party’s youth organization, known in Norway as AUF. AUF is the party’s youth wing and organizes the Utøya summer camp.
Einar Gerhardsen: A Norwegian Labour politician who served several terms as prime minister between 1945 and 1965. His governments led Norway’s postwar reconstruction and expansion of social programs.
Utøya massacre: The 2011 terrorist attack in which 69 people were killed at a Workers’ Youth League summer camp on Utøya. The attack targeted the party’s youth organization and profoundly affected Labour politics.
