Nynorsk

Nynorsk is one of Norway’s two official written standards, developed in the nineteenth century from Norwegian rural dialects. It is distinct from Bokmål, the other standard.

Ivar Aasen: Ivar Aasen was a Norwegian linguist who documented dialects and developed the foundations of Nynorsk. His dialect surveys and grammar supplied the standard’s linguistic foundation.
Nynorsk orthography: Nynorsk orthography is the set of spelling conventions used to write the Nynorsk standard. It turns dialect-derived vocabulary and forms into a consistent written system.
