Obsessive–compulsive personality disorder

A personality disorder marked by pervasive preoccupation with orderliness, perfectionism, and control, often at the expense of flexibility and efficiency.

Personality disorder: A persistent pattern of inner experience and behavior that causes distress or impairment and departs from cultural expectations. OCPD is classified as a personality disorder because its traits are enduring and pervasive.
Cognitive rigidity: Difficulty shifting thoughts or behavior when circumstances, goals, or evidence change. Rigid standards make it difficult to adapt plans when a task’s demands change.
DSM-5-TR: The American Psychiatric Association’s current text revision of its diagnostic classification manual. It specifies the diagnostic criteria used to identify OCPD in the United States.
Obsessive-compulsive personality disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder: Two distinct conditions that can share concerns about order, control, or repetition but differ in their defining patterns. The shared name often obscures the difference between personality traits and obsessions or compulsions.

Autism spectrum disorder: A neurodevelopmental condition involving persistent differences in social communication and restricted or repetitive behaviors or interests. Routines and rigidity can overlap, but autism has distinct developmental and diagnostic features.
Personality disorder prevalence: The proportion of a population that meets criteria for a personality disorder during a defined period. Estimates of OCPD frequency vary with the population studied and the diagnostic method.
