Occupy movement

A decentralized protest movement that began with Occupy Wall Street in 2011 and challenged economic inequality, corporate influence, and political power.

Occupy Wall Street: A 2011 protest in New York City that launched the Occupy movement. The New York encampment became the movement’s most visible starting point.
General assembly: A participatory meeting in which a group discusses proposals and makes collective decisions. Occupy encampments used assemblies to deliberate without conventional leaders.
