Ocean

An ocean is a vast, continuous body of salt water covering much of Earth. The names of the major oceans divide this global body into geographic regions.

Seawater: The saline water that fills Earth's oceans and seas. Its salinity and circulation distinguish ocean water from freshwater bodies.
Ocean circulation: The large-scale movement of water through the world's oceans. It links distant ocean regions through the movement of water.
Ocean and climate: The study of interactions between ocean processes and Earth's climate system. Oceans store and redistribute heat, influencing climate across the planet.

Marine ecosystem: A community of organisms interacting with one another and their physical environment in salt water. Ocean regions support ecosystems shaped by depth, temperature, and circulation.
Gulf: A large inlet of the sea or ocean extending into land. A gulf is a coastal indentation, not a major division of the global ocean.
