Octavia E. Butler

Octavia E. Butler was an American science-fiction author whose novels and stories examined power, race, gender, survival, and change. Her works include the Patternist series, Kindred, and the Parable novels.

Patternist series: A series of novels tracing a hidden history of telepathic people and their struggle for power. These novels established Butler’s early exploration of inherited ability, hierarchy, and human change.
