Oecusse

Oecusse is an East Timorese coastal municipality and exclave on the island of Timor, surrounded by Indonesian territory. Its administrative center is Pante Macassar.

Portuguese Timor: A Portuguese colonial possession on the eastern part of Timor and the nearby islands from the sixteenth century until 1975. Oecusse was part of Portuguese Timor, whose borders left it separated from the future East Timor.
Timor: An island in the eastern Malay Archipelago divided between East Timor and Indonesia. Oecusse occupies the island’s northwest coast, within the Indonesian-administered western half.

West Timor: The western part of Timor, administered by Indonesia as part of East Nusa Tenggara province. West Timor surrounds Oecusse on land and provides its overland connection to Indonesia.
