Okavango River

The Okavango River flows from Angola through Namibia into Botswana, where it disperses across the Okavango Delta instead of reaching the sea.

Cuito River: A major Angolan tributary that joins the Okavango system upstream of the Delta. Its relatively steady contribution helps sustain downstream flow through dry seasons.
Okavango Delta: An inland wetland in northern Botswana formed where the Okavango River spreads across the Kalahari. Its flood pulse supports one of Africa’s largest wildlife-rich wetland ecosystems.
Angolan Highlands: A highland region of Angola where several major southern African rivers have their headwaters. Rainfall in these uplands feeds the Okavango’s upper catchment.

Thamalakane River: A Botswana river channel that drains part of the Okavango Delta toward Lake Ngami. It is one downstream route for water leaving the Delta’s eastern floodplains.
Bwabwata National Park: A protected area in northeastern Namibia that includes habitats along the Okavango River. The river corridor provides water and wildlife habitat within this Namibian park.
