Old World warbler

Old World warblers are small, mainly insect-eating songbirds traditionally grouped in the family Sylviidae. Genetic research has redistributed many species among several families.

Sylviidae: A family of passerine birds that includes typical warblers such as Sylvia and Curruca species. This is the narrowed modern family closest to the traditional Old World warbler grouping.
Foliage gleaning: A foraging method in which birds pick prey from leaves, twigs, or other vegetation. Many warblers search foliage methodically for small insects and spiders.
Linnaean taxonomy: A system of biological classification established by Carl Linnaeus, using ranked groups and standardized species names. Traditional warbler groupings grew within the ranked classification system used by ornithologists.
