Omar Saidou Tall

Omar Saidou Tall was a 19th-century Toucouleur Muslim religious and military leader who founded a West African empire through jihad and conquest.

Tijaniyya: A Sufi Islamic order founded by Ahmad al-Tijani in North Africa in the late 18th century. Tall’s authority drew on Tijaniyya networks and his role as a prominent leader of the order.
