Omar Sharif

Omar Sharif (1932–2015) was an Egyptian actor who became an international film star through roles in Lawrence of Arabia and Doctor Zhivago.

Lawrence of Arabia: David Lean’s 1962 epic film about T. E. Lawrence and the Arab Revolt. Sharif’s performance as Sherif Ali brought him international recognition and an Academy Award nomination.
Cairo: The capital and largest city of Egypt, situated on the Nile River. Sharif was born in Alexandria and built his early acting career in Egyptian film, whose industry was centered in Cairo.
David Lean: A British film director known for large-scale dramas including The Bridge on the River Kwai and Lawrence of Arabia. Lean cast Sharif in Lawrence of Arabia and directed him again in Doctor Zhivago.
