One Day International

A limited-overs cricket match between national teams in which each side can bat for up to 50 overs. The format is usually completed in a single day.

Cricket innings: A period in which one team bats while the other fields, ending under rules specific to the match format. An ODI gives each team one innings, limited to 50 overs.
Test cricket: The longest international cricket format, played over up to five days with two innings per team. Its multi-day innings contrast with the ODI's single-day limit.
1971 England–Australia ODI: The first men's One Day International, played between Australia and England in Melbourne on 5 January 1971. The match was arranged after rain abandoned the teams' scheduled Test.
One Day International cricket rankings: The ICC's rating tables comparing men's and women's national teams in ODI cricket. Rankings summarize teams' results across bilateral series and tournaments.
Day-night cricket: Cricket played partly or wholly under artificial lighting, often with a pink or white ball. Day-night ODIs made matches easier to schedule for evening spectators.
Over (cricket): A set of six legal deliveries bowled by one bowler from one end of the pitch. The 50-over limit is counted in these six-ball units.
Twenty20 International: An international limited-overs cricket match in which each team can bat for up to 20 overs. Its shorter innings produce a faster, more compressed contest.
Cricket World Cup: The International Cricket Council's tournament for national teams competing in men's One Day Internationals. The inaugural 1975 tournament helped establish the ODI as a major international format.
One Day International series: A scheduled set of ODI matches between two national cricket teams. Bilateral series are a common setting for ODI competition outside global tournaments.
Colored clothing in cricket: The use of colored team uniforms instead of traditional white clothing in limited-overs cricket. ODIs helped make colored uniforms a defining feature of televised cricket.
