OR gate

An OR gate is a logic gate whose output is true when at least one input is true. It implements inclusive disjunction, so an output is also true when all inputs are true.

Inclusive disjunction: A logical connective that is true when at least one proposition is true, including when both are true. An OR gate physically implements this truth condition.
AND gate: A logic gate that outputs true only when every input is true. It requires all inputs, unlike OR's requirement that at least one be true.
Adder (electronics): A digital circuit that performs addition on binary numbers. Adder designs use OR logic in carry-generation and sum circuitry.
Wired-OR: A circuit arrangement in which compatible outputs share a connection that produces an OR-like signal. It realizes OR behavior through shared wiring rather than a separate OR gate.
Truth table: A table listing a logical operation's output for every possible combination of inputs. The OR gate's table makes its output rule explicit for each input pair.
NOT gate: A logic gate that outputs the opposite truth value of its input. Negation combines with OR in De Morgan's laws and compound circuits.
Multiplexer: A digital circuit that selects one of several input signals and forwards it to an output. Its selection logic can use OR gates to combine gated data paths.
Open-collector output: A transistor output stage that can pull a signal low but requires an external pull-up to produce a high level. Open-collector outputs can be connected for wired logic under suitable polarity conventions.
Boolean algebra: An algebraic system in which variables take truth values and operations include conjunction, disjunction, and negation. Its laws describe how OR gates combine and simplify within larger circuits.
XOR gate: A logic gate that outputs true when its inputs have different truth values. Unlike inclusive OR, XOR outputs false when both inputs are true.
