Organisation of Islamic Cooperation

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation is an intergovernmental organization of 57 member states that promotes cooperation and represents shared interests across the Muslim world.

Islamic Summit: The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s highest decision-making body, bringing together heads of state and government. It sets the organization’s broad priorities and political direction.

Islamophobia: Prejudice, hostility, or discrimination directed at Muslims or Islam. The OIC has campaigned internationally against anti-Muslim discrimination and incitement.
Arab League: A regional organization of Arab states that coordinates political, economic, and cultural affairs. The Arab League’s membership is regional and linguistic, while the OIC spans multiple regions.
OIC General Secretariat: The administrative body that carries out decisions and coordinates the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s work. It manages implementation between meetings of member-state representatives.
Organisation of the Islamic Conference: The name used by the organization from its founding in 1969 until it was changed in 2011. The name change reflected a shift in emphasis from conferences to cooperation.
