Osamu Dazai

Osamu Dazai (1909–1948) was a Japanese novelist and short-story writer known for The Setting Sun and No Longer Human, whose fiction often explores alienation, shame, and social performance.

No Longer Human: A 1948 novel by Osamu Dazai, narrated as the notebooks of a man who feels unable to belong among other people. Its self-accusing narrator gives Dazai’s most famous exploration of alienation.
