Osman II

Osman II was Ottoman sultan from 1618 to 1622. His attempt to curb the Janissaries and build a new army ended in his deposition and killing.

Janissary Revolt of 1622: The uprising that deposed Osman II and led to his killing in Istanbul. It was the direct outcome of his plan to reduce the corps’ influence.
