Otto Dix

Otto Dix (1891–1969) was a German painter and printmaker whose stark images of war, urban life, and political upheaval confronted viewers with violence and social inequality.

The Trench (Otto Dix): An oil painting by Otto Dix depicting decomposed soldiers in a devastated trench after battle. Its graphic battlefield imagery provoked controversy and became a landmark of his antiwar art.
