Outer Space Treaty

The 1967 international treaty establishes principles for exploring and using outer space, including the Moon and other celestial bodies. It bars national appropriation of celestial bodies and prohibits placing weapons of mass destruction in orbit.

Article I of the Outer Space Treaty: The treaty article declaring outer space free for exploration and use by all states without discrimination. It establishes the shared-access principle underlying the treaty’s rules.
