Overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom

The January 1893 coup in Hawaiʻi that deposed Queen Liliʻuokalani and replaced the Hawaiian Kingdom’s government with a provisional government backed by local annexationists and U.S. forces.

Queen Liliʻuokalani: The last reigning monarch of the Hawaiian Kingdom, who ruled from 1891 until her overthrow in 1893. Her attempt to restore royal authority under the constitution preceded the coup.
