Ovonramwen

Ovonramwen Nogbaisi was Oba of the Benin Kingdom from 1888 until British forces deposed and exiled him in 1897 after invading Benin City.

Benin Kingdom: A West African kingdom centered on Benin City, ruled by the Oba and known for its court art and political institutions. Ovonramwen inherited its throne and governed the kingdom invaded by Britain.
Benin Expedition of 1897: A British military invasion of the Benin Kingdom that captured Benin City and deposed Ovonramwen. It directly ended his reign and forced him into exile.
