Paekche

Paekche was one of the Three Kingdoms of Korea, ruling much of the peninsula’s southwest from 18 BCE until its conquest by Silla and Tang forces in 660 CE.

Onjo of Baekje: Onjo was the legendary founder of Baekje, traditionally dated to 18 BCE. Baekje’s foundation was attributed to Onjo, a son of Jumong in Korean tradition.
Gaya confederacy: Gaya was a group of Korean polities between Baekje and Silla, known for iron production and maritime trade. Baekje competed and negotiated with Gaya states along its southeastern frontier.
Battle of Baekgang: The Battle of Baekgang was a naval battle in 663 in which Tang and Silla forces defeated Baekje restoration forces and their Wa allies. The defeat ended the last major attempt to restore Baekje after its fall.
King Geunchogo: Geunchogo was a fourth-century king of Baekje associated with the kingdom’s expansion and consolidation. His reign marked a high point in Baekje’s power and reach.
Goguryeo: Goguryeo was an ancient Korean kingdom that controlled the peninsula’s north and parts of Manchuria. Baekje’s foundation traditions link its royal line to Goguryeo, its powerful northern rival.
Baekje–Wa relations: Baekje–Wa relations were diplomatic, military, and cultural ties between Baekje and the ancient Japanese polity of Wa. Contacts with Wa supported Baekje’s diplomacy and military position against rivals.
Baekje diaspora: The Baekje diaspora comprised people who fled or resettled after the kingdom fell in 660. Baekje’s displaced elites and artisans carried its knowledge and practices abroad.
King Muryeong: Muryeong was a king of Baekje who ruled from 501 to 523. His tomb provides unusually rich evidence about Baekje’s royal court and foreign connections.
Silla: Silla was an ancient Korean kingdom that unified much of the peninsula in the seventh century. Silla began as a neighboring kingdom and later helped bring Baekje to an end.
Baekje–Silla alliance: The Baekje–Silla alliance was a seventh-century military partnership formed against Goguryeo. This alliance briefly strengthened Baekje before Silla’s interests and alliances shifted.
