Paraguayan War

The Paraguayan War was a conflict fought from 1864 to 1870 between Paraguay and the Triple Alliance of Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay. Paraguay’s defeat brought territorial losses and catastrophic demographic decline.

Uruguayan War: A 1864–1865 conflict in Uruguay that ended with Brazilian intervention and a change of government. Brazil’s intervention in Uruguay helped trigger Paraguay’s declaration of war against Brazil.
