Patricia Neal

Patricia Neal (1926–2010) was an American stage and film actress. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in Hud (1963).

Hud: A 1963 American drama film starring Paul Newman as a self-centered Texas rancher. Neal won the Academy Award for Best Actress for playing Alma Brown.
Franklin D. Roosevelt: The 32nd president of the United States, serving from 1933 until his death in 1945. Neal met him as a young actress and later described him as an early romantic attachment.
Stroke: A sudden neurological injury caused by interrupted blood flow to the brain or bleeding within it. Multiple strokes in 1965 interrupted Neal’s career and required years of rehabilitation.
Anne Bancroft: An American actress known for The Miracle Worker, The Graduate, and other stage and screen roles. Bancroft won the Best Actress Oscar the year after Neal’s Hud victory.

The Fountainhead: A 1949 film adaptation of Ayn Rand’s novel about an uncompromising architect. Neal starred as Dominique Francon in an early major screen role.
John Wayne: An American film actor known for leading roles in Westerns and war films. He co-starred with Neal in Hud and received the Academy Award for Best Actor that same year.
