Paul Sabatier

Paul Sabatier (1854–1941) was a French chemist who shared the 1912 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for developing metal-catalyzed hydrogenation of organic compounds.

Heterogeneous catalysis: Catalysis in which a catalyst and reactants occupy different phases. Sabatier’s finely divided metals catalyze reactions at solid surfaces while reactants are gases or liquids.
University of Toulouse: A public research university in Toulouse, France, founded in 1229. Sabatier spent much of his academic career teaching and conducting research there.
